Illustrator’s Toolkit: Illustrator
For our work using Illustrator we were given a brief to design and present a series of 3 enamel badges based on an existing property, along with the enamel badges we were to create a backing card design and a logo / branding for the collection.
I began with research into enamel badges:
RauroCraft
Poxei
Kenji Land
Creating small thumbnail ideas:
Idea 1: Vocaloid Franchise
Stylising the original designs to fit a simpler format for an enamel badge

Finished Designs - to stick to the four colour limit (+black for the lines) I changed the eyes back to black and removed the two shades of green in Gumi's hair
Working on the background
Changing the backgrounds for each individual pin while keeping the same pattern
Titles - When looking for which font to use for my badge backings I found the font used for the logo of the Vocaloid software, Gill Sans. I also changed the franchise name from 'Vocaloid' to 'Voiceloid'.
Continuing to fit the brief, taking an existing franchise and changing it I changed the characters' names in the final packaging
(Original Names: Hatsune Miiku, Kagamine Rin, Megpoid Gumi)
-
I also added a blur to the inside of the badges, and added a second blur layer beneath to give the badges more depth

Idea 2: Cryptids - this idea does not completely match the brief (as it is not an existing franchise) however I chose to develop these badge ideas to continue practicing using illustrator

I added the blur to the inside and underneath these badges too to complete the final look
